First-wave arithmetic in "500th SS Parachute Battalion": 314 + 354 ≠ 654, and the six glider groups listed sum to 340, not 354
The Planning → 500th SS Parachute Battalion section contains an internal numerical inconsistency.
The article states:
- "The first wave of 654 troops would conduct the assault at 07:00..."
- "Rybka's plan for the first wave called for the insertion of 314 parachute troops in three groups (Red, Green and Blue) to secure the town, and another 354 troops in six glider-borne assault groups..."
- 314 + 354 = 668, not 654.
- The six glider-borne groups are listed individually with strengths of 110 + 40 + 50 + 50 + 70 + 20 = 340 soldiers, not 354.
- 314 (parachute) + 340 (glider) = 654, which matches the stated first-wave total.
The figure "354" therefore appears to be a transcription error for "340". Suggested fix: change "another 354 troops in six glider-borne assault groups" to "another 340 troops in six glider-borne assault groups", which reconciles the paragraph with both the enumerated group strengths and the first-wave total of 654.
