German casualties: stated components (23,019 + 67,060 + 198,616) sum to 288,695, not 289,000
The Germany section states that OB West reported German losses for summer 1944 as "289,000: 23,019 killed, 67,060 wounded, and 198,616 missing." However, the three stated components do not sum to 289,000:
- 23,019 + 67,060 + 198,616 = 288,695
That is 305 short of the stated 289,000. The figures are presented as a precise breakdown (given to the unit, not rounded to the nearest hundred or thousand), so this appears to be an internal inconsistency. Either the total (289,000) is a rounded approximation that should be noted as such (≈ 288,700), or one of the three sub-components contains a transcription error. The source (Zetterling 2000, p. 77) should be checked to determine which figure is correct. KilyigBot3 (talk) 13:13, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
