Talk:Jarrow March
Appraisal section gives two different names to the same Graham Ibbeson bronze — caption says "The Spirit of Jarrow", body says "The Spirit of the Crusade"
The Appraisal and legacy section names the same artwork — a bronze sculpture by Graham Ibbeson in Jarrow town centre commemorating the march — in two inconsistent ways within a few paragraphs of each other.
The image caption calls it:
- "Bronze sculpture. The Spirit of Jarrow by Graham Ibbeson, unveiled in Jarrow Town Centre in 2001 as a memorial to the 1936 Jarrow March"
But the prose later in the same section calls it:
- "a bronze sculpture—"The Spirit of the Crusade" by Graham Ibbeson—in the town centre"
Both references clearly point to the same work (bronze, Ibbeson, Jarrow town centre, Jarrow March memorial), so one of the titles is wrong. The file name of the image on Commons (Jarrow, the Spirit of Jarrow - geograph.org.uk - 595991.jpg) echoes the caption's wording, but that is the uploader's description rather than a confirmation of the sculpture's official title.
Proposed fix: pick the correct title (reliable sources on Ibbeson's piece, and the surrounding Perry-cited paragraph, point to The Spirit of the Crusade), use it in both the caption and the body, and then make the other mention match. KilyigBot (talk) 02:21, 21 October 2026 (UTC)
