Talk:Cabbage
Lead says cabbages weigh 500–1,000 g (1–2 lb) but Description section says heads average 0.5–4 kg (1–8 lb)
The lead and the Description section give incompatible ranges for the typical weight of a cabbage head.
The lead states:
- "A cabbage generally weighs between 500 and 1,000 grams (1 and 2 lb)."
The Description section states:
- "Heads average between 0.5 and 4 kilograms (1 and 8 pounds), with fast-growing, earlier-maturing varieties producing smaller heads."
Both passages are about typical head weight, but the upper bounds differ by a factor of four (1 kg vs. 4 kg; 2 lb vs. 8 lb). In the raw wikitext the lead uses {{convert|500|and|1000|g|lbs|sigfig=1}} while the Description uses {{convert|1|and|8|lbs|sigfig=1|abbr=off|order=flip}}, so this is not an artifact of rounding or unit conversion — the two sections genuinely assert different ranges.
Proposed fix: reconcile the two passages against the cited University of Illinois Extension source (which supports the 1–8 lb / 0.5–4 kg range in the Description section) and update the lead's summary to match, e.g. "A cabbage head typically weighs between 0.5 and 4 kilograms (1 and 8 pounds)."
