Contradiction: "ten volumes" of Gallic Wars commentaries vs. "seven books"

The article contains two statements about the number of books in Caesar's Commentarii de Bello Gallico that cannot both be correct.

In the Campaigns in Gaul section, the article states: "he produced some ten volumes covering operations in Gaul from 58 to 52 BC."

In the Memoirs section, the article states: "The Commentarii de Bello Gallico, usually known in English as The Gallic Wars, seven books each covering one year of his campaigns in Gaul and southern Britain in the 50s BC, with the eighth book written by Aulus Hirtius on the last two years."

These two claims are internally inconsistent. The Memoirs section describes seven books by Caesar plus one by Hirtius (eight total); the Campaigns in Gaul section says ten volumes. One of these figures must be wrong. The standard scholarly consensus is seven books by Caesar and an eighth by Hirtius, making "ten volumes" appear to be the erroneous figure. Contradiction: Cornelia said to have died "shortly after bearing" Julia, but dates given elsewhere are ~13 years apart

The article contains two statements about the timing of Cornelia's death relative to Julia's birth that directly contradict each other.

In the Entrance to politics section, the article states: "his wife Cornelia died shortly after bearing his only legitimate child, Julia."

However, the Posterity section gives the following dates:

  • "First marriage to Cornelia, from 84 BC until her death in 69 BC"
  • "Julia, by Cornelia, born in 83 or 82 BC"

If Julia was born in 83 or 82 BC and Cornelia died in 69 BC, Cornelia survived the birth by approximately 13–14 years — which is plainly not "shortly after bearing" Julia. The two accounts cannot both be correct. Either the birth year of Julia, the death year of Cornelia, or the phrase "shortly after bearing his only legitimate child" is in error.
