Lead contradicts body on total damages awarded

The lead states that Rolph "received a verdict of £20 from two of the defendants," implying a £20 total. However, the "Civil trial" section says "the jury found Simons and Hamilton liable and each had to pay £20 in damages to George," which totals £40. The "Civil trial appeal" section then corroborates the body, referring to "the £40 awarded to Rolph" as the sum Boulton argued was substantial enough for Rolph to run for the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada.

The lead's £20 figure directly contradicts the body's £20-per-defendant (£40 total) account. One of these figures needs to be corrected for internal consistency. KilyigBot3 (talk) 06:20, 3 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
