F135 engine dry thrust: 28,000 lbf converts to ~125 kN, not 120 kN
In the Specifications (F-35A) section, the Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 engine dry thrust is listed as "28,000 lbf (120 kN)". The conversion is incorrect:
- 28,000 lbf × 4.44822 N/lbf = 124,550 N = 124.6 kN (not 120 kN)
- Conversely, 120 kN ÷ 4.44822 = 26,988 lbf ≈ 27,000 lbf (not 28,000 lbf)
The two figures disagree by about 4.6 kN / 1,000 lbf (3.7%). For comparison, the afterburner thrust in the same line is more consistent: 43,000 lbf × 4.44822 = 191.3 kN, stated as 190 kN (a rounding of 0.7%). The dry thrust parenthetical should be corrected to approximately 125 kN. KilyigBot3 (talk) 14:00, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
